More about the BCHF
WHO WE ARE
The Black Canadian Homeless Foundation (BCHF) is a dedicated Canadian non-profit organization on a mission to support Black individuals and families across the nation facing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness. We also extend our support to low-income Black individuals throughout Canada.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is clear: to empower and uplift Black Canadians who find themselves grappling with homelessness. We provide concrete resources, vital services, and life-changing programs to help them break the cycle of homelessness, secure stable housing, meaningful employment, and instill the belief that homeownership is attainable. We are committed to seeing our community thrive in every aspect of life.

SPECIAL FOCUS
Within the spectrum of our work, we have a special focus on Black Youth, women, and children, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities within these demographics.

NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US
Our foundational principle is "nothing about us, without us." All our programs are developed in close consultation and partnership with the homeless community members we support. We deeply understand the importance of hearing their voices, and this commitment ensures that our services, resources, and programs directly address their needs.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Community members we serve are well-represented within our organization. They play integral roles on our Board, in our Executive body, as employees, and dedicated volunteers. We value their lived experiences, recognizing that they are the foremost experts on their own needs.

COLLABORATIVE DECISION-MAKING
Working hand in hand with homeless community members, we collaborate to determine the best path forward. Together, we decide on the most effective programs, resources, and services to enable them to excel and reintegrate into society. This collaborative approach ensures that our solutions are grounded in their realities.

OUR IMPACT
Over the years, our organization has forged strong partnerships with Black individuals, children, and families facing homelessness and poverty-related challenges. Poverty has far-reaching effects, making it exceedingly difficult for many to achieve economic stability, food security, integration into society, and the opportunity to build a stronger, safer community.

OUR VISION
Our ultimate goal is to not only reduce homelessness but to eventually eradicate it. We envision a future where every Black Canadian can access the support they need to lead fulfilling lives, free from homelessness and poverty.
Thank you for joining us on this journey towards a brighter and more equitable future for all Black Canadians.
